remonstrate; verb

verb (used with object), remonstrated, remonstrating.

Etymology: <1590-1600; < Medieval Latin rem ō nstr ā tus (past participle of rem ō nstr ā re to exhibit, demonstrate), equivalent to re- re- + mōnstrā(re) to show + -tus past participle suffix; see -ate1/font>
