REPORT: Trump Basher Jason Chaffetz Planning to Join Fox News

Republican Representative Jason Chaffetz, out of Utah, reportedly told House Republicans that he plans on taking a role at Fox News.

Back in April, Chaffetz announced he would not be seeking reelection in 2018 and apparently he plans to have a “substantial role” at Fox News on air, as was reported by the Washingtonian.

As the Washingtonian reported:

There is another possibility. According to two GOP lawmakers who have spoken to Chaffetz directly and four senior House Republican aides, Chaffetz has been telling people he’ll take on what one source calls a “substantial role” in on-air talent at Fox News Channel, possibly as early as July, amplifying whispers that Chaffetz will not finish out his current term.

One senior House Republican aide commented, “Let’s just say that when Jason told us he was headed to Fox, no one was surprised.” Another House Republican member stated that Chaffetz was, “gunning for it.”

The Hill reports:

“Fox was his first choice once he announced his plans,” the House Republican member said.

“He’s probably one of the most media-capable members in the House,” another senior House Republican aide said, “just based on total time spent on a television camera.”

In a surprise decision in April, Chaffetz announced he would not seek reelection. He said in a Facebook post that he made the decision after “long consultation” with his family and “prayerful consideration.”

Still, he noted he “may run again for public office, but not in 2018.”
