House Oversight demands documents on Flynn’s foreign contacts

The House Oversight Committee is demanding documents and information related to ousted national security adviser Mike Flynn’s “communications with and payments from Russian, Turkish or other foreign sources, including the Kremlin-backed media outlet RT.”

Chairman Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah and ranking Democrat Elijah Cummings, D-Md., sent similar letters asking for the information to FBI Director James Comey, Defense Secretary Jim Mattis and National Intelligence Director Dan Coates. The letter was also sent to White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus.

Trump fired Flynn earlier this year after Flynn acknowledged talking about sanctions-related matters with the Russian ambassador before Trump took office.

The letters were sent after recent reports that said Flynn was being paid to represent Turkey, something he didn’t disclose to the incoming Trump administration when he was named national security adviser. Reports also said he was paid more than $45,000 from RT in 2015.
